Another escape from police custody

A 24-year-old man escaped from custody at the Swakopmund police station.

The Erongo police have requested assistance from the public in tracing Dylon Mourice Esterhuizen (24) who escaped from police custody.

Esterhuizen was in custody on charges of housebreaking with the intent to steal and theft which took place in Mondesa.

According to deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the regional crime investigations coordinator, the Esterhuizen escaped Monday afternoon, at about 17:19, from the Swakopmund police station. “The suspect went missing after he was brought back from the Swakopmund state hospital, along with eight other inmates who had received medical treatment on the day. He is a resident of Tamariskia, Swakopmund and he has family staying in Rehoboth and South Africa. The investigation to trace and re-arrest the suspect continues.”

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the escapee is urgently requested to contact deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu at 081 246 4757 or detective warrant officer Samuel Auxab at 081 276 6844 or the nearest police station.
