Showcase your talents
Sem Amuthitu, Chief Executive Officer of Chameleon Arts and Entertainment - the company responsible for staging the talent search - explained that its purpose is to provide a platform for young performers to showcase their talents. "This is an opportunity for all youngsters. It’s today or perhaps never, so send us your recordings and we will get back to you in a flash.”
Amuthitu invited interested persons to submit a short video of them performing (singing, dancing or acting) before 31 April. The finalists will be notified on 5 May. The winner of the competition will pocket N$1 000, the runner-up N$600 and the third place winner N$400.
“We have a budget to host the occasion. The cash prizes will come from the sales of tickets that will cost N$60 and that will be disseminated to retail shops and individuals to assist with offering them to those who would like to attend the event,” Amuthitu said.
The target is to get at least 500 participants. “This will ensure that we keep doing the show every third month and make it into something that's appealing for the public. As instructors and event coordinators, we are looking to work with the youth on exercises such as public craftmanship exhibitions in order to assist them in producing some income for stationary and other necessities."
He also called on potential investors to come on board, as “we do not have any sponsors".
