Passionate about music
Duxen who was born and raised in Mondesa Swakopmund was an "outstanding" poet back in school and this encouraged him to start his musical journey. "I’ve been passionate about music from a very young age. Poetry led me to writing my own music. Whenever I go through something emotionally my music helps to heal me, in many special ways."
He started making music in 2019. "I believe I changed the perspective on Rumba and Afropop in Namibia. I realised that there was a gap in the Rumba genre and decided to take the next step to change the way the genre is viewed. I’ve managed to grow my very own fan base. My supporters approached me and requested that I do an album saying they will support the effort."
According to the artist, the Namibian music industry is full of good musicians but artist are failing to present their art properly. "On top of that, the beats they are producing are pretty much overrated. Coming up with something unique and different is a big advantage."
Duxen do not have an album out yet, but he did drop a mixtape “Isolation Room” on SoundCloud an Audiomack.
He says that there’s many ways of composing music. "You can use a certain event or person for inspiration. I come up with the rhythm and the lyrics first and then proceed to make the beat. I then add a vibe to the beat by free styling and add a great chorus before proceeding to do the verses and the intro."
His latest project is going to be his first album which he intends to release on 26 November 2022. "This project is going to be titled “Onghelo Ya’Shindjoba” which means Shindjoba’s (my fathers name) last born. I want to establish the name on the music scene and make people get used to it as my second name."
This album is being released under the label of Chameleon Arts where all the beats are produced. " it will consist of 15 tracks excluding two bonus tracks. I feature artists from Record Nation and Chameleon arts such as Lamizo & Nessy as well as J from Yama Entertainment and Kali Boy YK."
