German long distance cyclist takes a tumble

A German long distance cyclist sutained serious injuries after he took a tumble with his bicycle.

A German national on a long distance cycling tour took a tumble on the Namib - Naukluft road with his bicycle and sustained serious injuries .

Christian Weyland who is in his early 40’s, was cycling in the pass when the accident happened. He and his brother were travelling towards the South African border. A passerby found Weyland who had sustained injuries to his collar bone, head and also had other wounds laying in the middle of the road.

According to Marshal Ranger Sean Naude, the injured cyclist was transported to the medi clinic hospital – Swakopmund with serious injuries. "He is stable. They could not get hold of his medical insurance company so my ambulance transfered him from private to state."
