Adolf Kaure - Swakopmund-based hip-hop artist Paulus Kavindji (21), better known as Yung Kavin, has released the video for his latest single, “My Plans”.

The rapper is on a mission to complete his second album and has made it his obligation to inspire people who live in the township areas with his music.

Yung Kavin explained the concept behind “My Plans”.

“This song comes straight from the heart. One night I found myself on my own and busy cooking in Matutura, Swakopmund. I suddenly started stressing and thought a lot about where I live and how I live. I felt bad about waking up every morning and not knowing what I was going to eat. This stress and pain made me write a good song.”

Yung Kavin grabbed a pen and started writing. He says the first verse was not really touching.

“When I came to the second verse I became emotional and started thinking of others who are living the same life and those who are even worse off than me. I started thinking about those with dreams and thinking of giving up. I wrote this song for them so that they never give up on any of their dreams.”

The song was produced by Ally the Mini King. He is part of a duo known as Coastal Army.

The rapper also explained how growing up in Mondesa influenced his music.

“It motivated me a lot and it gave me courage to keep on doing inspirational music with lyrics other people can relate to.”

The “Otweya” hitmaker added that his music is capable of having a positive impact on those who seek hope.

After the release of his debut album titled Proud Namibian in 2018, Yung Kavin endeavoured to keep on delighting his fans with more music and music videos.
