In die wolke

Die uitdrukking “hy’s ge-olie” is nie meer wat dit was nie.

Die twee daggakweekhuise wat gevind is in tuistes by die kus het my laat trip en ver terug laat float.

Soos dit maar nou deesdae die geval is, het sosiale media weer gegons met krete uit verskillende oorde van legalise it en decriminalise it. Daar was sommer betogings vir en teen die gerokery en die kwesie het ons skoon laat vergeet van budget cuts.

Ek is behoorlik hoog ná al die daggabedrywighede in die lug. Deesdae dink ek net aan die naam dagga en ek is bedwelm.

In die hof het een van die beskuldiges aangevoer sy vervaardig olie uit die plante en dit bring verligting vir haar man se kroniese siekte. Let wel: Dit word gebruik en nie misbruik nie, nè?

Die hof wou egter niks daarvan weet nie, want die wet sê mos dit is ontoelaatbaar.

“Draai ‘n zol” of “kap ‘n pyp” was eens op ‘n tyd amper soos hallo sê vir mekaar in die lokasie.

Maar op ‘n ernstiger noot: Baie ouens het vandag kriminele rekords omdat hulle met dagga (ganja, weed), of soos die ouer garde sou sê “tier twak”, paaie gekruis het en in besit daarvan deur die polisie betrap is. Destyds wanneer hulle jou ingehaal het, was dit verby met jou.

Ek weet dat die hof op 'n tydstip mense met daggaverwante oortredings eers gewaarsku en dan rottanghoue gegee het voordat hulle boetes uitgeskryf en ook vir rehabilitasie na Suid-Afrika gestuur het.

Dit was nou afhangende van die hoeveelheid kruie waarmee jy betrap is.

Die wat rêrig nie wou hoor nie, is tronkstraf opgelê wat ook gepaard gegaan het met reuse- opgeskorte vonnisse as afskrikmiddel.

Baie manne en ook vroue in ons gemeenskap het gaan graduate en geharde kriminele geword. Vredeliewende, gearresteerde en gevonnisde daggarokers en -verkopers het tussen geharde misdadigers in die tronk beland. Van hulle het noodgedwonge by bendes aangesluit om die vier koue mure te survive.

Dit is ook opvallend dat dié van hulle wat die traumatiese ondervinding wel oorleef het, op hul oudag tot bekering gekom het.

Ten spyte van alles kon die “onkruid” nooit werklik uitgeroei word nie. Die voorraad en ook die mark (rokers en verkopers) was maar altyd daar en is steeds daar.

Net soos aalwyn, “wille als”, kruisement” en boegoebrandewyn is die groen gras mos ook ‘n medisyne, redeneer baie.

Dit is geen geheim nie: Ek kan getuig dit is beslis ‘n verslawende verdowingsmiddel met verreikend gevolge. Die gebruik daarvan het die weg vir my gebaan na ander “harder” dwelms, met katastrofiese gevolge. Oor die dinamiet genaamd sigarette en daai petrolbom genaamd alkohol praat ons op ’n ander dag.
