Well-known South African performer Rocco de Villiers will grace the stage in aid of cancer awareness at the “Be my Valentine” show in Swakopmund on 14 February.

The concert at the Dome will also raise funds for C.H.A.I.N. (Children with Handicaps Action in Namibia).

De Villiers is a pianist, producer, composer, musical director as well as a cocktail connoisseur. He regularly does concert tours throughout South Africa, is featured in magazines and newspapers, and receives regular television coverage. Some of his cocktail recipes and writings were included in various publications.

Rocco completed a B.Mus.(Ed.) degree at the University of the Free State, South Africa, in 1987 and moved to Johannesburg in 1990 where he became musical director at CLUB 58, a cult cabaret venue in Hillbrow.

He is the owner and director of Roccoroccomusic (est. 2004) through which he produces all his stage productions. He is also co-owner and co-director of Third Ear Sound (with Kutlwano Masote), which undertakes commissions in museum sound concept design.

C.H.A.I.N. is a kindergarden-based facility, currently looking after 20 handicapped children. The kids are collected from their homes in the morning and taken to a centre where they follow an educational programme. They are taught basic education, physical movement and mobility, and provided with a well-balanced meal during the day.

Tickets to the show cost N$250 each, which includes a light meal and wine, and can be bought the Domes’ box office, or call 064 400 301.
