The Walvis Bay Private High School (WBPHS) Rotary Interact Club (RIC) and the Janet Martin Charity Foundation (JMCF) joined forces in aid of a project which focuses on helping mothers with babies in need.

RIC representatives recently handed over donations received from the community and the corporate world to the foundation for distribution.

The club collected all sorts of donated baby products. These will be distributed to the mothers of babies in need under the supervision of the founder of the JMCF, deputy mayor Penelope Martin.

“We will be handing out the donated baby items whenever the needs arise. The foundation aims to assist senior citizens in need, orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs), the homeless, and also strive to reduce baby dumping through providing assistance to mothers in need.” explained Martin.

Some of the achievements of JMCF since its launch in 2016 include providing help to more than a thousand OVCs at various schools in Walvis Bay.

The organisation also handed out stationery to 350 scholars in need, assisted more than 20 struggling families with basic necessities and provided food and help to more than 150 elderly people.

The rest of the committee members of the foundation are Anastacia de Klerk (co-founder), Muriel Simpson (vice-chairperson), Denise Greyton (treasurer), Valery Stevens (PRO) and Baronese Beukes (secretary).
