Sailing season concludes

Susan Steyn crowned national sailing champion of 2018.

Leandrea Louw - The coastal sailing season saw both young and old sailors competing in races hosted by the Walvis Bay Yacht Club.

Susan Steyn was crowned national sailing champion in the Laser category, with Tristan Keulder named as the most improved sailor for 2018.

Jana Muller received second place in the national championships, followed by Jason Davidson in third, Dicky Roland in fourth, Lauren Davidson in fifth place and Tristan Keulder in sixth place.

During the 46th offshore race from Walvis Bay to Swakopmund, Gunther and Jurgen Gladis pocketed first place in the Hobie 16 class, followed by Lothar Redecker and Henry Roeber, with Lauren Davidson and Dean Adonis in third place.



Lothar Redecker and Henry Roeber pocketed first place in the Hobie 16 class of the bell buoy race, followed by Mathias Rottcher and Doris Gladis in second place, Jason Davidson and Luane Du Plessis in third, Stephanie Roland and Cameron Mackae in fourth. Team Lauren Davidson and Nabeelah Suleman received fifth place.

In the laser category, Matthew Quinn received first place, followed by Karen Templin in second, Deon de Klerk in third, Albertus de Klerk in fourth and Tristan Keulder received fifth place.

Xenia Plarre received first place in the optimist category, followed by Nicole Steyn in second and Stephen Fourie in third place.

The yacht club also welcomed new sponsors for these races, including Schoemans Office Systems, Hemco Paints, Catamaran Charters and MinAqua.
