Omaruru roep

Dit is amper weer tyd vir Namibië se “enig in sy soort”-geleentheid.

Waar eens net gefokus is op visuele kuns, word daar die afgelope vier jaar ‘n breë spektrum aangebied en is die “Omaruru Arts Festival”, oftewel Omaruru Kunstefees, nou met trots ‘n volwaardige kunstefees.

Oudergewoonte kom honderde besoekers in Augustus op Omaruru byeen vir ‘n naweek vol pret, kuns, musiek, teater, kos en goeie vriende.

Vanjaar se fees vind vanaf 29 tot 31 Augustus plaas. Liefhebbers van musiek, teater en kuns kan hul regmaak vir ‘n groot verskeidenheid kuns en vertonings van hoogstaande gehalte.



Diegeleentheid bied ‘n platform vir kunstenaars oraloor Namibië om hul kunswerke gratis uit te stal en te verkoop, asook met ander kunstenaars in die bedryf skouers te skuur .

Kunsuitstallings word by uitgesoekte lokale in die dorp aangebied.

Die organiseerders het gesorg vir ‘n program propvol opwindende aktiwiteite en uitsonderlike vertonings.

Die naweek skop af met ‘n langtafel-ete, die amptelike opening, en Gerd Meyer sorg vir die musiek.

‘n Eerste vir die fees is die deelname van die skrywersklub Die Namib skryf - DNS. Hul werke gaan voorgelees en voorgedra word met musiek onder leiding van Sanet Lambrechts en Wouter de Bruin.

Die gewilde Suid-Afrikaanse aktrise Marion Holm gaan feesgangers vermaak met haar eenvrouvertoning Operasie Holm.

In nog ‘n uitmuntede vertonin, The best music of the world, gaan die internasionale chanson-sangeres Esther Fellner en die mondfluitjie-virtuoos René Giessen konsertgangers met unieke musiek tuis op wêreldverhoë bekoor.

Vanuit eie bodem gaan Namibië se geliefde sjef Sanet Prinsloo en tuinboughoeroe Johan Wentzel hul kennis grappenderwys met die gaste deel in hul middagvertoning Tuinbou en Twak. Kom wys jou slag in die “Ready, steady, cook”-kompetisie. Die vertoning sluit ‘n piekniekete in.

Die hoogtepunt van die naweek is sonder twyfel die twee buitelugkonserte, oftewel Under the stars concerts, in die Omarururivier.

Vrydagaand is dit Classics under the stars, met Jannie Moolman begelei deur die eg Namibiese simfonieorkes, die Con Spirito Ensemble, en Saterdagaand Rock & Roll under the stars waar kitaarmeester Nathan Smith en Josh Ansley hulde bring aan legendes soos Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, John Mayer, Dire Straits en Gary Moore. Voorwaar ‘n aand vol nostalgie.
