Die agtste en laaste Rock and Surf Super Pro League (RASSPL)-kompetisie vir 2018 is onlangs tussen Kaap Kruis en Myl 100 gehou

Mededinging was straf tussen die deelnemers in die kategorieë vir mans, vroue en meesters, asook meisies en seuns in die ouderdomsgroepe onder 10 en 16.

Daar was baie gras in die water en dit het hengelomstandighede baie moeiliker gemaak.



Desondanks is ‘n paar mooi spesies gevang. Van die deelnemende hengelaars het ses spesies gevang, wat aan hulle elkeen 200 bonuspunte besorg het.

Daar was ook ‘n uitstaande vangs van ‘n Sarpa salpa (plaaslik bekend as ’n “strepie”) wat nie baie te sien is aan die Namibiese kus is nie.

Dié vissoort kan glo hallusinasies veroorsaak wanneer dit geëet word en word meestal gevind in die Oos-Atlantiese Oseaan, die Middellandse See en soms so ver noord as Groot Brittanje. Vir dié vangs het die hengelaar Morné Janse van Rensburg ‘n N$500-brandstofkoepon gewen.

Morné en Marina Kruger het ook elkeen ‘n harder uitgetrek.

Wenners op die dag was soos volg: Tophengelaar - Morné Janse van Rensburg (mans) met 626.6 punte en Marina Kruger (vroue) met 341.2 punte; Topmeester - Piet van Vuuren met 121.1 punte; Topseun o.10 - Jayden Warrington met 150 punte en topmeisie o.10 - Mirna Viljoen met 135.7 punte; Topseun o.16 - Eduward Janse van Rensburg met 114.6 punte en topmeisie o.16 - Dania Maas met 51.3 punte.
