Adolf Kaure - Rapper Jedidiah Yorokee Ziabulela, who is better known as Jyz Yorke, recently released a mixtape titled 3.

A mixtape is a compilation of music, typically from multiple sources, recorded onto a medium. The term normally describes a homemade compilation of music onto a CD or digital playlist.

Ziabulela, who was raised in Omaruru, explained the concept behind his latest offering.

“It was released on March 31 at 3 pm to make the concept stronger. I titled the mixtape 3. It indicates that in life you have to be like a child to excel. A child has a lot of room for growth and correction, and the greatest character is the faith they have. The cover art has my three nephews because they inspire me with their belief.”

He said he released the mixtape because it is the route he will take with his music.

“I am not ashamed to be myself. I released it to complement the official work that I will dropping which is very much related to this sound. Every song has the character of one of my nephews. Their eyes are covered in the colours red, blue and green. This alludes to anger, tears and happiness.”

The mixtape has three songs and to create it Jyz Yorke worked with a producer from the United States, known as The Bootleg Boy.

“His beats are unique as he samples worship songs which makes the songs he produces powerful. One of our very own, Smartboy from Namibia, mastered the vocals. The instrumental track was produced by Zack who is also a producer from Namibia.”

For Jyz Yorke the most sentimental song on the mixtape is “Oceans”.

“It is one of my best songs as I opened up about a recent break up and the hurt I experienced. I was at home and I getting flashbacks when I wrote the song. I needed to release the emotion and actually cried when I wrote it. I hit the studio the same day and recorded it in order to release the emotion. I am truly grateful for the response I’ve been getting from the tape.”

The mixtape can be streamed on YouTube or downloaded on Audiomack.
