Jessica Babe wins pool shootout

Otis Finck - Team Jessica were crowned champions of the Swakopmund Pool Club hosted pool shoot-out 4-a-side tournament on Saturday.

Jessica Babe consisting of Mynhard Viljoen, Jan van Zyl, Leon Beukes and Likius Nauyoma defeated BMG consisting of Nolan van Wyk, Marlon Jeneker, JC van Rooyen and Berno Pertesoin 3-0 in the final of the tournament hosted at Night Shift night club.

The winners pocketed N$1 200 with a floating trophy and gold medals sponsored by NARC. The runners-up received N$600 and silver medals. The third place winners, Vampires, pocketed N$300 and bronze medals.

Eight teams consisting of local sharpshooters participated in the tournament which produced 96 closely contested games. The top three teams advanced to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place play-offs after the group stage.

Nolan van Wyk, who organised the tournament, said it was the first of its kind for Swakopmund Pool Club.

“Despite it being a fundraiser, this was also the perfect practise run for the Champ of Champs tournament hosted by Desert Inn Pool Cub in Walvis Bay.”

Swakopmund Pool Club was established in 2015 and has 19 members.
