Honouring war veterans

19 November 2018 | Events

The Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTH) club Walvis Bay held a special ceremony to commemorate the 100th Remembrance Day. They joined the rest of the world to pay homage to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield during World War 1 and World War 2. Between July 1914 and November 1918, over 18 million men, women and children lost their lives during World War 1. Over 82 000 of military personnel are still missing in action from every conflict since World War 2. The war veterans are honoured at 11:00 on the 11th day of the 11th month of every year. This tradition was started in 1918 and continues to this very day.
