The 2018 Swakopmund Fashion Week will take place on 7 and 8 December at the Mondesa Multipurpose Centre in Swakopmund.

The event, organized by Tuhafeni Modelling Academy, is set to attract various international and local designers and a guest performance by Swakopmund rock sensation Miss H.

It is the first time that the town will witness a fashion week of this caliber. Tuhafeni Modelling Academy previously hosted a Matric Farewell Fashion show in Swakopmund as well as another fashion show in Arandis.

The last fashion event to be held in Swakopmund took place a few months ago and was known as the Matric Farewell Formal Dress fashion show. It was a collaboration between the Made in Namibia Collection Shop and Tuhafeni Modelling Academy.

Ten Namibian designers showcased their latest work in front of mostly grade 12 learners from Swakopmund’s high schools. Six of these designers were from the Erongo region while four were from the Khomas region.

There was an array of formal dresses as well as men’s outfits on display. Learners had the opportunity to purchase the outfits immediately after the fashion show. They also had a chance to tell the designers which part of their dresses or suits they wanted to be altered upon buying them.

For the Swakopmund Fashion week even more is expected with various international designers showcasing their designs.

General tickets to the first ever Swakopmund Fashion Week will cost fashion enthusiasts N$40 and N$100 for VIPs.
