Frank Opperman, akteur; “Namibië is my gunstelingland in die wêreld”

Die Swakopmund Voortrekkers is besig met geldinsameling in opdrag van hul gebiedsjeugleier, Anneke Burger.

Die inisiatief is die eerste deel van ‘n projek om die badkamergeriewe van die Swakopmund Voortrekkers se spankamers op te knap. “Die span- en badkamers is in 1980 laas opgegradeer en wel goed in stand gehou, maar dit is tyd vir opknappings,” vertel Burger.

Om dit te kan doen, het Burger en ander Voortrekkers die hulp van die bekende Suid-Afrikaanse komediant en akteur Frank Opperman ingeroep.

Opperman het sy jongste eenmanvertoning, Donkie, by Pro-Ed Akademie op Swakopmund opgevoer – die afskop van sy Namibiese toer. Die Voortrekkers het die winste uit die kaartjieverkope gekry.

Sy volgende optrede is in Windhoek en sal ook te siene wees op onder meer Otjiwarongo.

Donkie is deur Dana Snyman geskryf en is die sewende produksie wat hy en Opperman as ‘n span produseer.

Die verhoogstuk gaan oor ‘n Maandagoggend- saalbyeenkoms van die Hoërskool Hans Oosthuizen soos aangebied deur die huidige skoolhoof, meneer Barry Swart, oftewel Donkie.

Barry Swart het onmeetlike bewondering vir die stigterskoolhoof, oorle’ Peet van Aard, en smag daarna om die skool nes Van Aard te regeer. Die haakplek is dat die wet oor lyfstraf, asook die skoolkurrikulum al talle male sedert die stigting van die ‘nuwe Suid-Afrika’ verander het.

Die kinkel in die kabel is die twee amptenare van die nuwe onderwysdepartment wat die saalbyeenkoms bywoon. Barry Swart moet dan bontstaan om sy oudtydse karakter te verberg om die nuwerwetse kritici tevrede te stel.
