Coastal cricket league off to a flying start
Seven teams are competing to be crowned Coastal Social Cricket League champions.

Three teams are jointly occupying the top of the log after the first shots were fired in the battle for supremacy in the locally contested Spur Coastal Social Cricket league competition.
Fuel Pump Warriors (FPWR) defeated Namibia Radio Services Agency (NRSA) with 59 runs in the opening match of the annually contested event on Sunday.
FPWR won the toss and elected to field first. NRSA scored 165 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Lauritz Haccau was the top performing batsman with 54 runs (including two 6s and six 4s) from 30 balls. Ricardo van Stein was the best bowler for FPWR with 3 wickets for 8 runs in two overs.
NRSA dismissed FPWR for 106 runs for 10 wickets in the 17th over. Pierre Le Roux was the top performing batsman for FPWRD with 22 runs from 25 balls. Ettien Beukes was the top performing NRSA bowler with 3 wickets for 19 runs from 3 overs.
Haccau was named man of the match for his performance with the bat and the two wickets he took.
Walvis Bay Strikers defeated PPS Knights with 10 runs in the second match of the day. Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first. The scored 162 runs in 20 overs.
Morne van Bosch was the best batsman with 50 runs (including 4 fours) from 46 balls. He was also named man of the match.
Ben Shikongo was the best bowler for Walvis Bay Strikers with 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs.
PPS Knights replied with 152 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Spur defeated Playtime Development with 8 wickets in the final match of the day. Playtime won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 112 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 19 overs.
Johannes Erasmus was the best batsman with 30 runs (including four 4s) from 38 balls.
Jaco Marais was in commanding form with the ball for Spur and claimed 5 scalps for 16 runs from 3 overs.
This performance also earned him the man of the match title.
Nian Grobbler was the top batsman for Spur with 44 runs (including three 6s and three 4s) from 15 balls. Johannes Erasmus and Mauritius Ngupita each took a wicket for Playtime Development.
The Khomasdal Titans from Windhoek travelled to Walvis Bay to take on the coastal teams at Sparta cricket grounds over the weekend.
