Beauty queens ready to wow Walvis Bay

26 November 2018 | Events

Otis Finck - The 2018 edition of Miss Walvis Bay will be held at Lothars Steak House which is also the main sponsor for this edition of the event on 30 November.

Voting for Miss Public Choice already commenced Wednesday on social media. Everybody is invited to join in the fun and to vote for their favourite contestant.

Kietz Entertainment is organising the beauty pageant with “Welcome to Miami - a Caribbean experience” as theme.

Nikita “Kietz” Melani, who has been hosting the pageant since 2012, confirmed that 15 contestants aged from 18 to 24 entered the pageant. “While the aim is to showcase local beauty, we are looking forward to crown a role model for the youth of Walvis Bay and an ambassador that can represent us in the Miss Tourism Namibia 2019 and Miss Namibia 2019 pageants. We are also planning a social responsibility component involving charity work for this year’s winner.”

The contestants will take to the ramp and model in beachwear, tropical casual wear and evening wear.

“Prizes include vouchers and cash, depending on sponsors. The winner will also secure automatic qualification as a semi-finalist in the Miss Namibia 2019 pageant.”

The reigning Miss Walvis Bay, Monique Damens, is expected to hand over her crown to the new queen and to motivate the contestants on the evening. Esther Lukas is the reigning first princess and Nelly Frans the second princess.

There are also some local artists lined up to provide some live entertainment and to keep the crow entertained. Rudolph Windish is the master of ceremonies, with Carla Cummings, Alvin Naidoo, Melvin Cloete, Albertina Nyoni and Richard Amunjera serving on the judges’ panel. Yolandi Melani will handle the scoring aspect at the pageant.
