Asnee Miller, Miss Touchies 2018 - “It’s always fun to compete in the competition and I get to meet new people who make it even more fun.”

Leandrea Louw - Asnee Miller (18) from Walvis Bay was crowned as Miss Touchies 2018.

Her first princess was Nelmari Louw (20) from Cape Town, while Tharine Bergh (18) from Windhoek was crowned second princess.

The beauty pageant forms part of the annual angling bonanza and rugby touchies tournament held in Henties Bay on 26 December.

Miller, who is currently studying towards her degree in radiography at the University of Namibia, is no stranger to beauty pageants.

She previously competed in the Miss Teen Walvis Bay competition and won the Miss Debutant title.

“I’ve been participating in the Miss Touchies competition for the past four years and won the Miss Photogenic title of the competition and in 2017. It’s always fun to compete in the competition and I always get to meet new people who make it even more fun-filled.”

Asnee says she does modeling for the fun of it, but if she were granted the opportunity to do it professionally she would go for it. She would rather prefer doing photo-shoots instead of runway modeling.

“I’m a sporty person and participate in beauty pageants to build my self-confidence. Since I had a knee operation I can’t be so much active in sport anymore.”

Miller was an avid gymnast and represented Namibia on numerous occasions. She was named best junior rhythmic gymnast in Namibia for three years.

She advises the youth to give their all in order to reach higher heights.

“Never doubt yourself, believe and have faith. Always be positive and remember that persistence is the key to success.”

The Miss Teen Touchies crown went to Nina-Marie Retief (16) from Grootfontein. First princess was Shakira Berges (15) from Walvis Bay and second princess Venia van der Merwe (16) from Kempton Park, South Africa.

Laliq Adams (6) from Windhoek was crowned as Miss Junior Touchies. Her first princess was Danel Du Toit (10) from Windhoek and second princess was Lulu Venables (4) from Henties Bay.
